The Memory Walk has taken place each year since 2023. The 2025 walk was held on 22 June at Barrfields Stadium for Dementia Friendly Largs, and the 2026 walk at Barrfields on 21 June, open to all. An application to the Common Good Fund towards it was successful.

The community garden carried seasonal displays through 2025 and into 2026 — Easter, VE Day, a summer display, VJ Day in August, the Viking Festival, Hallowe'en, Remembrance and Christmas, then a World Cup theme in 2026. CCllr Adair and residents of Sandringham took over the flower beds, and a local resident donated large plants. Thanks were recorded at the 2025 AGM to Fiona Stevenson for the artwork and to the members who work in the garden. The garden costs about £150 to £200 a year and LCC is considering ways to raise it.

Love Largs emoji litter signs were displayed at the school and around the town through 2025, and continued to go up during 2026 — at Bake n Bite in February and Fishworks by June. Separately, in February 2025 the Academy's newsletter highlighted pupils dropping litter, and LCC agreed to supply additional posters for display throughout the school at a cost of about £90. One spare sign remained.

Railfuture was invited in August 2025 to discuss strategies for lobbying for improvements to the North Coast line, including faster and more frequent services and enhanced services in summer and for events such as the Viking Festival. Railfuture attended the February 2026 meeting and set out its aims for rail passengers. The improvements sought for Largs were shorter journeys, more capacity, fewer stops, twice-hourly trains and better punctuality, and it was suggested that the clash between the Viking Festival weekend and the Ayr air show be raised with the MSP for a question to the Minister for Transport. The advice recorded was to form a rail user group, engage with ScotRail's Strategy and Planning Director, and raise the service as a campaigning issue. Two actions followed: to identify the successor to the previous ScotRail director, and to request the cancellation rate for Largs under freedom of information. By March and April 2026 cancellations of services from Largs to Glasgow were reported to be down in number, and the successor had still to be identified. In June a document on ScotRail's performance on the Largs line was circulated, and LCC was to consider writing to the company about it.

A request was made in September 2025 for LCC to support a question to KA Leisure about why the Community Campus could not be made more available to the community, it being open to the public three nights a week. LCC continued to press for longer public opening at the Largs Campus. KA Leisure advised in March 2026 that it was still trying to extend times but could not do so because of operating leases. It was recorded that facilities in the town go unused because young people are not allowed access to them, and that charges at Inverclyde were considered very high. The Community Council agreed to invite KA Leisure's Chief Executive, and local groups, to a meeting, and in April Cllr Murdoch was in discussion with KA Leisure's Chair. In June it was recorded that a karate club had to take forty children to Garnock Academy for a grading because Largs Academy could not be opened.

Community Council elections were postponed from 2025: the Chair recommended waiting because of the timescales of the Scheme of Establishment review, and a motion to hold them in 2025 was not supported. They were then expected in September or October 2026. In June 2026, with the review still incomplete, it was agreed by all to postpone again until it concludes — proposed by CCllr Phillips, seconded by CCllr Stevenson.

East Castle Avenue is the only street in Largs with a partial exemption from the pavement parking ban; other streets did not meet the Scottish Government's criteria on road and pavement width. Parking on a privately owned pavement is still liable to a fine. Concern was recorded about emergency vehicle access and about a general lack of communication. A letter to Transport Scotland and to the relevant Scottish Government committee was agreed in December, and clarification on road widths was sought from Kenneth Gibson MSP in January. In May 2026 it was stated that parking on the promenade is classed as pavement parking, with some exceptions, and in June that an exemption would have to be applied for.

A proposal for allotments at Douglas Park was raised by a member of the public, who has drawn up a plan he would like considered. North Ayrshire Council has advised that a change of use is required, but little progress has been recorded and the matter appears to be stuck; Cllr Murdoch reported in January 2026 that there had been no meetings. In February it was stated that the community group involved had not progressed the forms required. CCllr Woodburn agreed to email the Council for an update, and the action has been carried forward at every meeting since.

An application by Wetherspoons to become an off-licence was considered. The Community Council agreed that it does not support the application, and the question of overprovision within the town was raised. Part of the application was also to increase capacity inside the premises. The application was postponed to a hearing on 7 September 2026.

North Ayrshire Council identified an underspend of £1.47 million and put three options for its use out for consideration. The Community Council proposed a fourth — using the money to protect the school crossing patrols and to acquire care capacity within the Health and Social Care Partnership — and agreed this unanimously. It was noted that a one-off underspend cannot fund continuing employment, though one-off grants could help various projects. The options return to full Council for a decision.

In May 2025 CCllr Woodburn called for the Community Council to be involved in how money from the fund is disbursed, saying there was no transparency about it, and CCllr Alexander asked whether the proceeds could be transferred to the Community Council; the answer given was that this depends on the setup of the Locality Partnership. Takings from the seafront car park rose by £100,000 after pay and display was installed. The Community Council recorded the view that residents should be able to suggest how the money is spent, with repairs to toilet facilities among the suggestions, and proposed discussing it with members of the public at a meeting. Councillors were due to meet on 22 June 2026 to consider the fund. In January the Council declined to approve money from the fund towards Christmas lights. In May CCllr Woodburn suggested that fines raised in the seafront car park should be paid into the fund; the answer given was that such fines cover the cost of the work that raises them.

A proposal was presented for an electric vehicle charging hub at Hunterston, powered by renewable energy. It would work like a petrol forecourt but with charging points including ultra-rapid chargers, generating power on site by solar with additional supply from the national grid, and would include retail and coffee facilities. A planning application was expected within six to eight weeks. A video is on the company's website and feedback was invited.

North Ayrshire Council is reviewing the Scheme of Establishment that governs community councils. LCC was encouraged in May 2025 to participate fully, with details of the process to be sent. In June it was reported that the whole scheme was open for review, with no proposal from North Ayrshire Council of what it wished to change, unlike other councils, and LCC agreed to seek the views of other community councils. A meeting to formulate a response was agreed in July. In September the consultation period was extended to allow further consultation. By May 2026 the review had still not been published and CCllr Woodburn agreed to email North Ayrshire Council for an update; in June it was recorded as likely later in the year. Community Council elections remain postponed until it concludes.

The Viking Festival committee updated the May 2025 meeting on the festival's 45th year, with changes to the logo and to the programme of events. A longship was being built at the Maritime Museum in Irvine, with volunteers wanted for all aspects of the build, and the festival fire event was returning to Largs Thistle's football ground. A tug of war trophy was recovered for a competition, and a programme involving local businesses was to be free to the public; LCC agreed to take an advert in it, paid from the Admin account. Schools wanting to take part were invited to contact the committee. Coordinating with ScotRail was recorded as a challenge, with more buses possibly required. In June ScotRail advised that it could not provide extra trains during the festival because it clashes with the International Ayr Show, and the need for additional carriages, buses and ferries was raised. The programme had been printed with the support of local businesses, local traders would be at the event, and additional public toilets would be in place. LCC agreed to work directly with the festival directors and ScotRail on a plan for the following year. In September the festival reported that, after a complaint to North Ayrshire Council about cars parked on the promenade in the second week, traders were told to move them, and that there is no defined policy for the safe use of the promenade. In May 2026 the festival reported that a Viking longboat capable of sailing had been acquired, that the marquees were fully booked and that community groups had been invited to join the parade and the longship. The staging would not be at Aubery, which would be used for parking to avoid the previous year's problems; the Festival of Fire would be at the putting green, and Vikingar would be open for its cafe and toilets. Volunteers were again being sought. In June LCC was given a free advert in the festival brochure.

It was reported in May 2026 that the car park at the M&S site was complete and internal fitting was under way, with a possible August opening. The arrangements for entry and exit were discussed, though it was not settled whether these would be left turn only. The footway outside has been resurfaced. In June it was confirmed that there would be both right and left turns into and out of the site with no restriction, and that the pathways would be completed within the financial year. A question remained about the pavement at the old RBS.

A dangerous building at Gallowgate Street was reported in June 2026. Parking bays there will be closed, and the work could take up to eighteen months.

A manhole cover outside a guest house on Irvine Road was fixed by December 2024, when two further covers were causing concern. In June 2026 Scottish Water apologised for the manhole covers on Irvine Road and was reported to be looking for a long-term solution.

It was reported in June 2026 that the Integration Joint Board had agreed to change the criteria for care packages to critical need, and that everyone currently holding a care package would be reviewed. It was also reported that 115 unfunded care beds at Crosshouse hospital would end.

Kenneth Gibson MSP was pursuing a banking hub for Largs with Link, with a meeting at Holyrood in November 2025 with that company's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Cllr Hill, Cllr Collyer and a representative of Cash Access UK visited YourSpace looking for suitable premises for a cash service; that company is operated by the Post Office and funded by major high street banks, and was looking for temporary premises in Largs. A petition was discussed and not thought necessary while the MSP was already pursuing the matter. Information drop-in sessions for the Largs Cash Hub were arranged at the Bank of Scotland on 16 June and 21 July 2026, 10am to 2pm.

Concern was expressed in November 2025 about the closure of Farmfoods and its impact on the town. LCC wrote to the company; the closure being a commercial decision, little could be done, and CCllr Woodburn agreed to continue pursuing it. Following the closure, a licensing application was received in March 2026 for a proposed grocery store in the former premises, to which the Community Council recorded no objection. The loading bay outside is to remain, no order having been received to remove the loading restriction.

Cairneys Quay Association reported renovation work on the quay, slipway and toilets, and the need to raise £150,000 for its future. Ideas for fundraising were invited. The work carried out at the Cairneys Quay toilets was commended in May 2026.

Questions were raised in January 2025 about the Participatory Budget: a voting system that appeared to favour larger groups, the same groups succeeding each year, no feedback given to unsuccessful applicants, and whether a biannual system would be fairer. It was the first year the budget had been oversubscribed. In February the Council advised the process was being evaluated, recommended that groups encourage people to vote for them, and undertook to note that unsuccessful groups are not told their vote numbers. No later minutes record the outcome of that evaluation. A drop-in session for interested groups was held at Largs Library in August 2025, £1,000 was paid to LCC in January 2026, and funding remained available in May 2026 towards boards at the community garden.

Several businesses suggested moving Yuletide evening to a different day. The minutes record that most businesses had not asked the Events Committee to change it and that there was no consensus, and that the Events Committee would continue to consider the options. In May 2026 the return of surveys on the question was recorded as poor, and holding it on the Friday night and all day Saturday was under consideration.

Residents raising the condition of pavements in June 2025 were advised to email AMEY Highways directly. In August residents were asked to send photographs of roads or pavements needing improvement to the Community Council's Facebook page or email address. The Community Council recorded dissatisfaction with several aspects of AMEY's management of the A78 and agreed to seek to engage with the company, either privately or at a public meeting. The matters listed were the Fort Road traffic junction, the M&S crossing being out of action, flooding at Geraldo's, road closures with unsuitable diversions, the resurfacing of the A78 and damaged manholes, and a lack of community engagement. In March 2026 it was recorded that the drainage problem and lack of signage at Geraldo's and Costa were to be dealt with the following week. In April Cllr Murdoch was still pursuing the resurfacing of the footways from M&S to the roundabout, and various roads in the area were due to be resurfaced during the year. On potholes, it was explained that the roads inspector categorises each one to determine the repair required, and that claims for damage to cars are referred to the Council's insurer and are difficult to prove. In May Transport Scotland gave an assurance that every traffic management on the A78 through Largs would be manually operated from 7am to 7pm, and residents were reminded to report failed signals, such as the lights stuck on red at Haylie, to the police. The footway outside the M&S site had been resurfaced, with the stretch to the roundabout at Aitken Street and the Irvine Road footway to follow, and concern was recorded about the standard of pothole filling. Holes in the edging of the promenade near the RNLI station were reported as already in hand.

An application to the Common Good Fund for a women's self-defence event was refused in March 2026, North Ayrshire Council's legal advice being that it did not meet the criteria for an award. A grant from the same fund towards a political hustings was also discussed, members expressing the view that it was not appropriate to fund one. In May 2026 an application for funding for a cycling project prompted a discussion about the process for grant applications and about the Chair having a conflict of interest.

MCR Pathways, a national charity that matches volunteer mentors with young people facing instability or adversity, presented to the May 2026 meeting. It has worked with North Ayrshire since 2019 and reached Largs Academy in 2024. Mentors give an hour a week during the school day, with a minimum commitment of a year, and are matched with a young person by shared interests. Largs Academy had seven mentors and was aiming for twenty-five. Anyone interested can find details on the charity's website.

A member of the public asked in August 2025 what was being done for young people, noting a lack of awareness of what already exists; an open football pitch and IT upskilling were suggested, and the young person was invited to work with LCC. In November Alexander Hughes was appointed an Appointed Adviser on youth in the community, having raised the lack of places for young people to meet and get support and an interest in mental health among them, and a group was set up to agree a plan. Space was secured at Vikingar for a Youth Project Safe Space, with an introductory event in February 2026 and £160 agreed towards advertising flyers, proposed by CCllr Macintosh and seconded by CCllr Stevenson. In April a taster musical workshop was hosted free of charge at Largs Naz Church as part of a youth mental health initiative, leading to a six-week block being planned, with further events discussed at Largs Academy.

North Ayrshire Council's Cabinet decided on a blanket 20mph limit across North Ayrshire, implemented through temporary traffic regulations, with all streets requiring new signage. CCllr Woodburn reported that the decision was taken without consultation, that a full debate of all councillors had been refused, and that the accident statistics did not support it. The view of those present in June 2025 was that a blanket limit was not required and should instead be targeted. In March 2026 problems with the position of signage were raised and Cllr Murdoch agreed there were inconsistencies in the town. In April he described the limit as a temporary arrangement with an eighteen-month consultation period. The cost is borne by the Scottish Government.

Reports were raised of counterfeit notes circulating locally, having been passed to businesses in the town. The notes feel slightly different, and the silver vertical hologram strip can be peeled away. It was agreed the problem should be communicated to residents to increase awareness. The Bank of England publishes guidance on checking notes.

Complaints were recorded in February 2026 about the lack of consultation before the pavement was extended and a new island installed on Brisbane Glen Road. The work was requested by traffic police, who raised concerns about the junction after a serious accident there the previous year, and was funded by the Scottish Government. Cllr Murdoch raised the absence of consultation with North Ayrshire Council. In April 2026 concern was expressed about speeding on the road, and about the different speed limits along it and elsewhere causing confusion.

It was agreed in 2025 to invite senior officers to a meeting. The Ayrshire Police Divisional Commander attended in March 2026 and set out local policing priorities, the review of resourcing in North Ayrshire, and the establishment of community investigation hubs. The public were encouraged to report all crimes, with reports able to be made online and the police front desk staffed during office hours.

The Chair of Largs Colts set out the club's position following North Ayrshire Council's agreement to the community asset transfer of Bowen Craig. The club marked fifty years in 2025 and has around 100 volunteers giving time each week, 250 boys and girls playing football, and ten age groups from 5 to 17. Grass pitches can be used for about six months of the year, and other facilities in town cost approximately £25,000 to £30,000 a year; funds come from monthly subs, grant funding and fundraising. The stated aims for Bowen Craig are a financially sustainable year-round facility, raising the club's profile, engaging local providers and undertaking a sports facility needs assessment, consulting the community, and carrying out a site feasibility study.

The Chair told the November 2025 meeting that he wished to step down from early 2026, and an interim Chair was sought to serve until the elections. CCllr Stewart took over as interim Chair in January 2026, and tribute was paid to the outgoing Chair.

LCC agreed to write an open letter to the five elected members proposing that £1.25m allocated to the i3 site in Irvine be repurposed and shared between communities, with Largs's share going towards a community minibus, flower beds on the promenade and, subject to funds remaining, works to reopen the Aubery toilets. Other community councils were to be asked to support the approach. In February 2026 CCllr Woodburn recorded that he had asked about redistributing the money to local communities in August 2025 and had received no reply.

A Friends of St Columba's group formed and was reported as active in January 2026. In February the Chair reported that, without warning, the church had been given a closing date for its sale the previous day. The Friends made a competitive offer, conditional on the Church of Scotland retaining the building while surveys were carried out and funding explored. The trustees were due to decide between bidders that evening. No later minutes record the outcome.

Highview Power notified LCC in November 2025 of proposals for a long duration energy storage facility at Hunterston PARC, with community events including a public event at West Kilbride Village Hall in January 2026. In February CCllr Macintosh reported back on the company's presentation of its proposals for power storage and a stability island at Hunterston, which indicated the development could possibly create around 1,000 jobs.

A suggestion was made in April 2025 to engage with the Olympic committee about bringing the torch to Largs, drawing on the town's connection with Brisbane, which hosts the 2032 Games. In January 2026 Cllr Murdoch reported on activities to take the idea forward, crediting its origin to the Community Council. In February he told the meeting he had put to North Ayrshire Council his concern that without action from them the torch would not come to Largs, and LCC recorded that it was keen to support the effort and to be involved.

New UK government funding for councils to improve town centres and public places was reported in February 2026, with half a million pounds available for North Ayrshire. It was described as at an early stage, and expected to be available to communities.

Largs Events recorded difficulty securing a budget for the Christmas lights, and that North Ayrshire Council declined to approve money from the car park fund because of previous budget decisions. Council electricians were no longer certified to install on AMEY street furniture, and completing the installation through AMEY's appointed contractor cost Largs Events approximately £3,000. AMEY has put the cost forward to its community fund.

In September 2025 it was recorded that Largs Naz Church planned to hold a Christmas dinner for the community if a grant application succeeded, funds being limited, and that possible changes at the church might also affect it. £2,000 was ringfenced for Christmas food support — dinners at Largs Naz Church and Brisbane Evangelical Church, Common Ground meals, the Foodbank and the Food Hub.

One vacancy on the Community Council was recorded in May 2025. Kerry Canning was appointed to the Community Council in November, proposed by the Chair and seconded by CCllr Low Thomson, and Alexander Hughes was appointed an Appointed Adviser for youth, proposed by CCllr Woodburn and seconded by CCllr Canning.

The possible loss of a school crossing patrol was raised at the February 2025 meeting as one of the budget proposals, to be decided at the Council's budget meeting later that month. That budget, on 26 February 2025, approved removing the patrol at the junction of Glenacre Avenue and Alexander Avenue, beside the primary school. A Freedom of Information request by CCllr Woodburn found the assessment had been carried out between 4pm and 4.30pm, well after the school comes out, and referred to markings for a mini roundabout that does not exist there. LCC challenged the assessment as invalid and wrote to the Head of Service and the five elected members. Cllr Murdoch stated that councillors had not been presented with the report on which the decision to reduce the number of patrols was based; it was obtained through the Freedom of Information request. In May the Council acknowledged the flawed assessment and reversed the decision. The minutes record that reversal for other areas which lost their patrols was not supported.

The application for a community minibus was successful and the full amount of the grant was awarded. Largs Thistle is the owner and keeper of the vehicle.

A protest at Largs station was announced for the morning after the January meeting, over cuts to the hours of ticket office staff, and concern was recorded about the impact on the public. ScotRail's Strategy and Planning Director, Scott Prentice, attended the February meeting and answered questions on journey times, carriage numbers and staffing on evening trains. On the ticket office he said the change was to the office's opening hours rather than to staff hours, with the same number of staff and their duties altered to spend more time on the platform.

Access to Food work through the year was supported by funding from the Stakis Foundation, which enabled LCC to support Christmas dinners at Largs Naz Church, the weekly Common Ground meals, and Christmas dinners at Brisbane Evangelical Church for the Team Challenge group. The Foodbank and Largs Food Hub were also supported.

Community cinema showings ran during the year. The charge changed to a flat fee of £100 a showing regardless of screen size. Suggestions for films were invited, and a buffet alongside a showing was raised as something that might be trialled. LCC agreed to apply to the Participatory Budget to host a movie night for families, including those with additional support needs, with food, in January or February. A school cinema event at Barrfields was recorded in November as unlikely to go ahead this year.

The accounts for the year ending 31 August 2025 were audited by North Ayrshire Council and approved at the AGM. At the year end the Admin account stood at £1.05, the Project account at £3,990.17 and the Cinema account at £678.07.

North Ayrshire Council advised in September 2025 that, in the final phase of Scottish Government funding, improvements are planned for Mackerston play area and around £350,000 is expected to be available. LCC asked Cllr Hill about the plans and no response had been received, so it was agreed to contact North Ayrshire Council directly.

A handrail for the beach steps at the bottom of May Street was raised in 2024, when Cllr Murdoch agreed to take it forward. By September 2025 no update had been received and two incidents of women being injured at the steps had been recorded. LCC agreed to raise it directly with North Ayrshire Council, then decided not to after Cllr Murdoch confirmed he was still pursuing it, to avoid duplication, and to follow progress instead.

Concern was raised in July 2025 about sight lines when leaving driveways on Waterside Street because of parked cars, and separately about traffic at the bottom of Waterside Street and Main Street and the state of the pavements. Both were referred to the elected councillors as the route to take them forward. In September North Ayrshire Council advised that none of its criteria were met for any work on Waterside Street.

In response to concern about the number of shops selling vapes, it was reported that licensing will not be introduced in Scotland, because vape shops are regulated through a mandatory retailer register.

The Access to Food group met on 9 September and agreed updated terms of reference to reflect changes in Community Council membership.

In February 2025 it was recorded that public toilets would remain open all summer, that Aubery would be reinstated in some way and that Mackerston would close. In May concerns were raised about the cost of repairs at Aubery and the lack of documentation from North Ayrshire Council, with a suggestion to use the working toilet as a multi-sex facility meantime. In July LCC proposed that part of a repurposed £1.25m be used to reopen Aubery. In August the Viking Festival provided portaloos during the festival, LCC recorded that it would like more say in how the seafront car park fund is spent, and Kenneth Gibson MSP agreed to take the question forward. In September the Council set out the cost of refurbishment, the position on Aubery and the funds available from the car park, and recorded its view that Largs is well provided for at Gallowgate, Broomfields and the Pencil.

A proposal for an aerial gondola, arising from the Largs Local Place Plan, was approached tentatively by a company in February 2025 and a letter of intent was signed with Gondola Ventures in April. The company visited Largs in May for a feasibility study hosted by LCC, with North Coast councillors invited; CCllr Alexander emphasised that the project was at a very early stage. A Zoom meeting followed in July, and in August a meeting took place with the company and landowners, recorded as being under non-disclosure. By September it was described as an ongoing, long-term project.

The absence of a sound loop in the Valhalladrome at Vikingar was raised, with the Hakkison Lecture given as an occasion where many people struggle to hear. LCC agreed to raise it with the management.

An invitation to the Observatory Trust to speak to the Community Council was agreed in April 2025. After its presentation in June, LCC agreed to host a meeting of community groups later in the year in support of restoring the Observatory, for which £158,000 is required; LCC recorded that it was keen to help particularly because of the Olympic Games being held in Brisbane in 2032. The Trust has obtained a lease on the building, which is now listed. Kenneth Gibson MSP offered support with any future plans. The action was carried forward at each meeting to September.

The Hunterston PARC liaison committee reported to the April 2025 meeting. The site remained quiet, with remediation work under way and visits from Navy vessels, and a planning application was in process to begin work on tower foundations. XLCC was planning and modelling the site, a new construction company was being sought after the previous one ceased trading, and work was expected to begin in March 2026. Seventeen apprentices were training in Irvine with further places available. Filling the hole to allow construction of the marine yard, which would make turbine gravity bases, was estimated at £150 million, with Dutch companies bidding to supply suitable dredgings. A bond requires all above-ground structure to be removed if the business fails. In September 2025 it was reported that XLCC was downsizing from six lines to four.

The absence of a school crossing warden at the junction of Holehouse Road and Alexander Avenue was raised. North Ayrshire Council replied explaining the staffing position and said it hoped to have someone in place soon.

Play park equipment was ordered for installation over the summer. Concern was raised in June about ground levels at the new play area being unsafe for children, and a letter was sent to North Ayrshire Council. A time capsule was bought for an opening ceremony. In August the new park was compared with what has been provided in Irvine and Kilwinning. Kenneth Gibson MSP confirmed that it is for the local authority to decide how funding received from the Scottish Government is spent, that North Ayrshire should be allocated equitably, and that it falls to the five elected councillors to see that it is; he agreed to raise the strategy for play areas, and how much has been allocated, with North Ayrshire Council. Concern was recorded about the lack of response to freedom of information requests.

LCC recorded in August 2025 that it would like to produce a newsletter informing the public of events and activities in Largs, possibly working with the local paper and various groups, for the following summer. The new radio station at Largs Development Trust was also highlighted as a way of reaching people.

An application form was constructed with the trustees and young people, and the online application process went live in April 2025, running to 30 April, with the trustees deciding on applications. Around £70,000 remained in July, with applications due to reopen in October. LCC recorded that it has no oversight of how the fund is disbursed. CCllr Alexander advised in February 2025 that the charity's accounts had not yet been submitted to the Scottish charity register for that year.

Concern was raised in May 2025 about £1.3 million allocated for a wind turbine at the i3 site in Irvine without public transparency, with no papers available and no reply from the elected members to an enquiry. A Freedom of Information request was made about the disposal of the site, and the response was received after the original deadline had passed.

The effect of high energy prices on local businesses was raised, together with an arrangement by which local communities can buy energy at a reduced rate. Businesses would need to be involved.

Concern was raised in July 2025 about the amount of money spent in Largs compared with the rest of North Ayrshire, and Irvine in particular. It was recorded that every swimming pool in North Ayrshire other than the one in Largs, which is the oldest, has been replaced.

Largs Community Council agreed to join the rail campaigning group Railfuture at £25 a year, to press for better services on the Largs line. Proposed by CCllr Woodburn, seconded by CCllr Low Thomson.

North Ayrshire Council responded to a Freedom of Information request about the number of its employees resident in England, stating there are three. No further information was given, and further detail was being sought.

The Love Largs litter sign at Vikingar, reported broken in April, was repaired.

The Secretary raised that free school lunches were available in libraries across North Ayrshire except Largs, and recorded the expectation that this was a clerical error.

Concern was raised in June 2025 about the neglect of planting in the town and the state of the flower beds at the car park. The Community Development Trust had started taking over some planters, and it was suggested that those at the car park may also need to be adopted.

A letter from LCC to the Chair of Helter Skelter requesting a trustee position remained unanswered. The minutes record LCC's disappointment that its offer to be involved had not been responded to.

Scaffolding at the site was examined and made safe in February, following concern about the condition of the site, and rubbish at the rear was being cleared by April.

CCllr Macintosh took over as the Community Council's representative on Hunterston matters, nominated by CCllr Woodburn and seconded by the Chair. This resolved the gap in representation recorded in December 2024.

Cycling Without Age, which has around ninety branches in Scotland, presented to the April 2025 meeting. The Largs chapter has ten volunteer pilots and one trishaw, which anyone can ride, including children, for outings of roughly twenty minutes to an hour. Rides are booked by telephone. The chapter works with a local care home, taking residents out accompanied by a carer, and was raising funds towards a second trishaw at a cost of £10,000.

North Ayrshire Council approved the registration of the Largs Local Place Plan. The plan was produced by members of the Community Council and adopted by it in December 2024 after consultation, on a motion proposed by CCllr Adair and seconded by CCllr Low Thomson.

A tea dance was held on 20 February at the Masonic Hall as a joint fundraiser with Dementia Friendly Largs, Largs Food Hub and the Access to Food group.

A meeting with the Head of Housing to discuss housing issues in Largs was arranged for 25 February. The minutes record the arrangement but no account of the meeting.

Residents raised concern about repeated closures, most recently one of four days with no reason given. A Freedom of Information request was made about how often the centre had closed in the past year and the reasons. The most recent closure was attributed to staff attending a three-day first aid course, and the booking system was moving online. North Ayrshire Council offered to give a presentation on waste and recycling, and one was requested for the March meeting, though by February no response had been received about attending. Concern was expressed about a possible increase in fly tipping.

Approval was given to obtain a quotation for chippings and a weed barrier for the rose garden section, on a motion proposed by CCllr Low Thomson and seconded by CCllr Adair, and the upgrade was recorded as ongoing in February.

Funding for the Food Hub was due to end in October, which was not known when the hub opened. The two meetings name the funder differently — Scottish Government funding in January, North Ayrshire Council funding in February. Concern was recorded about its viability after only a year, and about how much is expected of volunteers. A larder network meeting in March was to discuss finances.

A request was made in February 2025 to increase the one-hour parking limit in the town centre to two hours, with parents taking children to toddler groups finding one hour too limited. The blue badge procedure was also discussed. Cllr Marshall's recorded view was that one hour works well, because it is possible to park for longer elsewhere in town.
